Cluster Analysis

Temporal clustering of cases of a disease refers to unusually high aggregations of disease incidence occurring over time. The cells denote units of time and the objects represent epidemiologic events, such as disease incidence.

We provide computer clustering programs (cluster.zip) that calculate exact p- values, means and variances for maximum cell frequency and minimum cell frequency in a symmetric multinomial distribution. This program is suitable for computation when number cells are up to 10. When the number of cells is large (>10), we provide simulation program (simulation.tgz) to calculate empirical p- values, means and variances for these test statistics.
